Keyboard virtuoso, McDonald opened with Doobie hits right at 7:30 while the audience was still shuffling in. Staging and set up fairly independent of each other, two separate acts with no collaboration, though each mentioned the other favorably. After 90 solid minutes left without encore option, which I assume would have been Real Love and a duet with the great Ms. Monet of On My Own. Dragged a little with three ballads in a row, but generally played the Doobie hits and still can hit those blue-eyed soul notes.
Complete tear down and set up for Hatebreed was understandably 30 minutes, and audience didn't seem to mind. Audio better for Hatebreed than McDonald. A great show at half the price paid for the same acts in San Diego the night before. Impressive given the limited time for a sound check. The band jumped right in, and everything sounded great. Many were disappointed with the absence of big hit ballads like Harbor Lights and We're All Alone. Some in the audience began leaving while the first encore was unfolding even though the house lights were still down. Second encore was a long blues jam that left many a bit empty, though it was performed impeccably. Vocals cleaner. A lot of blues and new tunes.
